Grapat wooden toys are a family-owned and run business started by parents Casiana and Jordi in Spain. They began the business after moving from the city to the country. Inspired by their eldest daughter who grew up with very few toys as they realised she enjoyed playing with everyday objects and creating new worlds from a simple scarf, or a road from books.

More importantly, they saw the importance of play for children and that play is the natural language of a child.

Grapat believes that when the toy is simplistic in design and with little instructions provided, it encourages children to use their imagination, creativity and innovative mind. This follows the Waldorf educational approach which is popular across the globe and used in preschools and early learning centres.

Grapat wooden toys are all handmade in Spain using sustainably sourced wood, non-toxic, water-based dyes and finished with waxes and oils of vegetable origin. The oils can have a strong aroma at first, but generally, they lose the smell over time.

Each piece is unique as they are handcrafted and hand-painted. Grapat understands the “imperfections” of wood as characteristics that make each piece one of a kind.

With a strong focus on the environment, from 2019 Grapat Wooden Toys have 100% eliminated the use of plastic from their packaging.

Grapat is a wonderful eco-friendly toy company, producing heirloom toys that will be played with continuously by your children and handcraft toys that can be passed down to the next generation.
