This year is flashing by! I can’t believe half the year is almost gone. It’s a big year of double digits for our family as I will be turning 40 (😱) and my eldest son Lincoln turned 10!

We haven’t had a big birthday party for Lincoln for a few years. I love throwing kids parties in the younger school years. It’s a great opportunity to build friendships. Check out some of our past parties with a superhero and LEGO theme. Once they get older, we keep it low key with lunch and a movie with friends.

Anyway turning the big 1-0, Lincoln wanted to celebrate with his family and requested a cake by mummy! Eeek! I love baking cakes but with the 4 kids and full-time work and a few recent cake fails, I’ve outsourced the past few times.

However, I came across Cake 2 the Rescue and it was the ideal solution. Together Lincoln and I picked out a cake. We really liked the Smiley Faces cake and I think it is quite awesome for a tween. The website was easy to navigate and place an order and the cake kit came within a week.

At $53.95, it’s such great value as it comes with everything you need such as the cake and icing mix, colouring, cake tin and all the cutters. The only thing you need to add is pantry items such as eggs, milk and butter.

Olivia and Ben helped me make the cake and we enjoyed it so much. The emoji faces were really fun!

Cake kit was kindly gifted by Cake 2 the Rescue. Made with love by mama, little sister and brother. All words are my own.
