Congratulations you are having a beautiful baby boy! Whether this is your first baby or you’ve been there done that, few things are as fun as dressing your newborn baby in tiny and cute outfits.
No matter what anyone says you can never have too many clothes.
Here are my 5 essential must-haves for your baby boy
1. Not your average Onesies
Making dressing a breeze, onesies should most be on the list for any newborn. Making changing nappies super easy with snap buttons at the crutch. Summer babies can wear them on their own to make a statement or layer them with cute leggings or bloomers for the cooler months. It’s a good idea to have them in varying sizes, you can never have too many baby onesies.
2 .Funky Rompers
Rompers will keep your baby cool in summer and the perfect layering piece in winter paired with jumpers, cardigans and a beanie. It’s a no brainer that zip rompers are a must-have addition to your newborn stash as they make it easy to change in case you know, the dreaded “poo-nami” happens.
Look for cotton fabrics making them breathable and non-irritating on your baby’s sensitive skin unlike most synthetic fabrics such as polyester.

3. Overalls
There is nothing cuter than a babe in overalls! It’s like a complete outfit on its own or the perfect layering piece. Overalls are so versatile you will soon see they will be your go-to item for dressing up your babe. Layer them over onesies, short or long sleeve tees and then add cardigans or jackets for cooler weather. Most overalls will have adjustable straps, so you find it’s the one item of clothing that just keeps on giving as your baby grows with it.
4. Hats and Beanies
You can’t go wrong with a beanie. Not only does it keep your precious babe warm it also adds a cuteness element to any outfit. Likewise, snapbacks and buckets hats will keep them protected from the harsh rays of the sun and looking totally swag.
5. Shoes
Finally, no outfit can be complete without a pair of cool kicks. While your babe is still little best to keep those feet out of shoes but once he is out and about and on the move, you’ll want to invest in a good quality pair of shoes. Vans have been known in the skate culture for their durability due to their waffle sole, making them the perfect shoe for busy toddlers.
Here’s a handy checklist of baby must-haves:
- 4-8 onesies (snap crotch bodysuits, at least one short sleeve)
- 4-8 singlets (with snap-crotch, great for layering and won’t ride up)
- 4-8 rompers (look for zips, much easier for changing)
- 1-3 cardigans/jackets (for extra layering)
- 1-2 beanie/hats (for warmth and sun protection)
- 2-3 Socks (optional, adds an extra layer of warmth)
- Coming home outfit (super cute for photos)
